Piano for Playful People
What to Expect
You’re seeking a place for your child to have fun as they make music. You want them to experience delight as they discover all of which they are capable. Your hope for them is that they cheer themselves on as they learn to recognize, accept, and embrace mistakes along their personalized path to growth.
JWK Music Studio is where creative minds meet to make good, high-quality music. We learn to play together and have the time of our lives doing it as we sing, move, and groove through our lessons.
Video might have killed the radio star, but it’s here to support your growing musician!
You don’t have to practice alone
Practicing piano can be a lonely endeavor. We stay connected throughout the week using PracticeSpace, where I upload audio recordings and videos for easy reference away from the studio. You don’t have to wait until your next lesson to ask a question – AND you don’t have to wait to share the amazing music you are making at home! You can upload a video of your brilliant progress right into the app and get a virtual high-five to tide you over before we get to make music together again.

Celebrate your child’s progress in community
Seeing your child share their music on a stage is an experience like no other. You will get to observe your child’s learning adventure from their first notes to their bow at the end of a polished piece. When you realize how excited young music makers are to hear each other and applaud their friends, your heart will be full.

Experience different performance types
Sharing music can come with a lot of big feelings! We learn to be courageous by consistently playing with and for one another in our weekly partner lessons. Students participate in local music festivals in which students can receive feedback in a non-competitive setting. Think of the music you know and love – it’s usually the work of more than one person. To that end, we start exploring ensemble music early in our musical journey.
How To Get Started
-
Parents, you get to tell me about your child (and you! YOU, amazing human being who had a full identity before becoming a parent to a smaller, amazing human being) and what you’re hoping to get out of piano lessons. We’ll use Zoom for our first connection.
-
Children, it’s time to make music and check out the studio! We want to ensure that you have an idea of what lessons are really like prior to making a commitment.
-
Families, I look forward to helping your babies bloom!
