Meet Mrs. WK

Smiling woman sitting at a piano, wearing a black dress and pearl necklace.

When I was 4, my parents enrolled me piano lessons. Apparently, I didn’t really complain about practicing until I was 7, and I quote - “I don’t remember asking to do this!”

Sometimes, the greatest gifts are the ones that are given to us without our asking. I won’t reveal how many years it has been since my first piano lesson, but I still regularly thank my parents for starting me on a path that has brought me so much joy.

When I started high school, it occurred to me that I may not make time to play the piano in college if I didn’t study music. That wasn’t an option! I decided to major in piano performance at Florida State University. My appetite for learning still unsatisfied, I went to the University of South Carolina for a master’s in piano pedagogy. After a master’s in music education from the University of Miami, it was finally time to make my transition from the music classroom – to the music classroom!

Long story short, I became a music teacher because I love – and I still see myself as - being a music student! As a certified classroom teacher, it has been thrilling to help large numbers of students from varied backgrounds come together to create beautiful music from many genres.

The experience I have singing, dancing, and playing multiple instruments ensure that our piano lessons are never static.  I can say confidently that it is my life’s calling to help strangers become friends, connected by one of the world’s most powerful forces for good.

The ability to play the piano is unquestionably good. The meaningful connections it has brought me – and can bring you - are unquestionably better.

You've read about me - choose a time to talk to me!
